Songwriter Scotty Emerick was born in 1973 in Hollywood, Florida.  Scotty was co-writer of several Toby Keith hits including "Beer For My Horses" and "Whiskey Girl".

"The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas" starring Dolly Parton and Burt Reynolds premiered in Austin in 1982.

In 1987, George Strait's "All My Ex's Live In Texas" is #1 on the Billboard chart.

At the All-Star Game in Pittsburgh in 2006, Carrie Underwood performed "The Star-Spangled Banner".
