Saturday is simply splendid!  There isn't a lot to report in country music history for August 6, but I am happy to report that the weather is magnificent so get outside and enjoy!

In 1964, Loretta Lynn gave birth to twin daughters, Peggy and Patsy.  They followed in their mother's footsteps forming a duo "The Lynns" and received several award nominations throughout their career for their songs "Woman to Woman" and "Nights Like These".

In 1999, Garth Brooks mother, Colleen, passed away as a result of throat cancer.

And in 2011, the fabulous Oak Ridge Boys were inducted into the Grand Ole Opry.  During the ceremony, they sand "Bobbie sue" and "Amazing Grace".
