1935    Singer/songwriter Bobby Bare born this date in Ironton, Ohio.  His many hits include "500 Miles Away From Home" and "Detroit City".  Bobby was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2013.

1956   "Blue Suede Shoes" by Carl Perkins is #1 on the Billboard country singles chart.

1999   "Come On Over" album by Shania Twain reached shipment of ten million copies.  This made Twain the first female country singer to have two albums ship ten million copies.

2013    Miranda Lambert wins Female Vocalist of the Year, and "Over You" wins Single Record and Song of the Year at the Academy of Country Music Awards ceremony.
