Country Music History April 3
Blessings to you, country music fans, for a beautiful Sunday.
Country Music Hall of Fame member Don Gibson was born April 3, 1928 in North Carolina. A very talented singer and songwriter, Gibson recorded a host of country classics including "Oh Lonesome Me" and "I Can't Stop Loving You".
Another extremely talented singer, Billy Joe Royal, was born in Georgia in 1942. Royal had a string of pop hits, probably most notably "Down In The Boondocks", and a country cross-over "Tell It Like It Is".
Reba and Heidi, come on down! Back in 2009 Heidi Newfield and Reba McEntire appeared in a celebrity edition of the TV game show "The Price Is Right".
Checking the Billboard country singles charts, in 2004 the #1 position is held by Kenny Chesney and his buddy Uncle Kracker with "When The Sun Goes Down". In 1982, we find The Oak Ridge Boys and "Bobbie Sue".
