Mantorville, MN (KROC-AM News) - Dodge County Authorities are getting closer to filing charges against Lois Riess for the shooting death of her husband.

A statement issued by Dodge County Sheriff Scott Rose on Wednesday indicates the Dodge County Attorney received the investigative reports on the death of 54-year-old David Riess several weeks ago and is currently waiting for the results of tests on the gun used to murder a Florida woman to determine if the same weapon used to kill the rural Blooming Prairie man at his home in late March. The statement notes the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension crime lab has completed some testing, but technicians are waiting for the arrival of some evidence from Florida to conduct ballistics exams.

The Sheriff says the full autopsy results have also been received and reviewed, which clears the way for the release of Mr. Riess’ body to his family.

His wife remains jailed in Lee County Florida, where she faces first-degree murder charges alleging she murdered 59-year-old Pamela Hutchinson in Fort Myers in order to steal the victim’s identity.
