Area Teams Continue to Impress at State Tournament
This past weekend on KFIL and KVGO, we were able to broadcast all three Caledonia Volleyball matches. The Warriors were able to capture runner-up at the Class A State Tournament.
In the quarterfinals, they were dominate as they swept Cook County in straight sets, 25-11, 25-13 and 25-17. They excited kept going after they beat Tracy-Milroy-Balaton in five sets. After trailing 2-1, the Warriors were able to win the final two sets in thrilling fashion. They won set number five 16-14, which is about as exciting it can get for a fifth set.
The Warriors' run would stop there as they fell in four sets to Mayer-Lutheran 3-1. The loss to Mayer-Lutheran was the only loss to a Class A team for the Warriors this season. Their other five losses came against teams in Class AA or AAA. A pretty impressive season from the Warriors!
It was a great season for the Warriors, congratulations!
On Friday night, we had Grand Meadow football on KVGO, as they knocked off Edgerton/Ellsworth 36-0 in the 9-Man quarterfinals. The Superlarks are looking to win their fourth straight 9-Man State Championship.
We also had Rushford-Peterson on KFIL, as they beat Murray County Central 44-21 in the Class A quarterfinals. The Trojans might have played in the toughest Class A section in Minnesota, with them, Fillmore Central, Goodhue and Blooming Prairie combining for nine losses.
On Saturday morning, the Caledonia Warriors beat Lakeview 58-16 in the Class AA quarterfinals. It was another dominate performance for the Warriors, as they look to win back-to-back State Championships in Class AA.
We will have all the semi-final games for you on KFIL, and you can check out the schedule here.
Good luck to all of our area teams in the State Tournament!
