On Tuesday, DFL Sen. Liz Boldon introduced a bill that would grant RPS permission to get rid of the alley system by repealing the 1974 law that put it in place for RPS.
The department indicated the grant violated civil rights law, contradicted the department’s policy to prioritize merit and was an “inappropriate use of federal funds.”
The strong winds caused numerous power outages, canceled classes at a local high school and were blamed for at least one injury crash. Rochester remains under a high wind warning until 10:00 Friday morning.
