Starting Monday Everyone Will Be Required To Wear a Mask or Shield At Rochester’s Costco
The CEO of Costco just published an open letter explaining an update to the company's policy on face coverings. The new policy will require all Costco members to wear a face mask or shield at all of the store locations. This includes people with a medical condition, but children under the age of 2 do not have to wear a mask.
Craig Jelinek wrote, "Costco has had a face mask policy in effect since May 4, 2020, but members who could not wear a mask due to a medical condition were exempt. This is no longer the case. If a member has a medical condition that prevents them from wearing a mask, they must wear a face shield at Costco. This updated policy may seem inconvenient to some, however, we believe the added safety is worth any inconvenience. Our goal is to continue to provide a safe shopping environment for our members and guests, and to provide a safe work environment for our employees."
At first, it was believed that masks were to be worn to protect others. They do that, and now new research shows they also protect the person wearing it. Harvard environmental health researcher Joseph Gardner Allen told CNN "The evidence is piling up that masks work in terms of driving down the risk for everyone."
Meanwhile, The Minnesota Dept. of Health reported a new daily number of positive cases on Thursday that sadly smashed the previous record.
