Mankato, MN (KROC-AM News) - The victim of an apartment fire in Mankato has been identified.

The Mankato Public Safety Department says 64-year-old Howard Easton died after a fire broke out in an apartment building early Thursday morning. When firefighters arrived at the scene, Easton was not breathing and he was pronounced dead at the scene after efforts to revive him were unsuccessful. Officials reported two other people suffered minor injuries as a result of the fire.

It was reported just after 2 AM in a fourth-floor apartment unit at 413 N. 4th St. in Mankato. The damage was estimated at $100,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
