The Minnesota State Fair announced yesterday on their social media account that $10 million dollars in improvements are coming to 'The Great Minnesota Get-Together'. Part of that $10 million in improvements will be metal detectors that will be installed at all 11 gates coming into the fairgrounds.

The post added that in addition to the metal detectors the fair will make improvements to "every building in the State Fair’s livestock complex, upgrades to State Fair utilities and communications systems, and scores of painting, landscaping, and building improvements and [utility] projects."

A new year-round ticketing office will also be opened at the old CW-Twin Cities station that sits across from the fairgrounds on Como Ave.

All of the improvements are being paid for through the Minnesota State Fair's operating revenue and also in part through grants from the Minnesota State Fair Foundation. The post went on to add at the end that the "fair is financially self-supporting and receives no government aid of any kind."

The Minnesota State Fair will run this year from Aug. 27 – Labor Day, Sept. 7, 2020.
