Three Dia de los Muertos Celebrations You Must Attend in Rockford
October 31st might be Halloween, but the next day, November 1 is a big holiday too, it's Dia de los Muertos and there are a ton of ways to celebrate in Rockford.
Some people think the second the clock strikes midnight on Halloween, we should start blasting Mariah Carey and put up our Christmas trees... the rest of us know that's way too early, but there is another holiday we can decorate for and celebrate on November 1st, the Day of the Dead also known as Dia de los Muertos.
Maybe you've seen the Disney movie Coco, or maybe you took a ton of Spanish classes in high school. You likely know a bit about the holiday, but did you know that so many Rockford and Stateline residents are holding celebrations this weekend and would love for you to come and learn even more about the traditional culture?

Your first stop should be to watch Good Day Stateline on Friday November 1 at 5:30pm on FOX39. We are hosting an entire episode devoted to the holiday and Rockford residents sharing their personal stories about celebrating the holiday.
When the show's over, if you're 21, you can head to the first Dia de los Muertos celebration of the weekend at the Nicholas Conservatory and Gardens.
'Noche de las Calaveras' is from 6-10pm Friday night, an adults only celebration of the holiday with music, a cash bar, and food vendors. You can get tickets at the Nicholas Conservatory Website.
Saturday you have a few options too!
