On TikTok, people are calling the new entry system "pathetic" because it's intended to prevent people from using someone else's membership to shop.

Here's how it works:

When you get to the entrance of Costco, the entry system will scan your membership card and display the cardholder's face on the other side of the scanner for the staff member to verify.

If your face isn't on that screen, you will be denied entry to shop.  It's that simple!

I get it.  You're trying to make a run for your mom, grandma, or a friend who can't make it to the store themselves for whatever reason and now you can't do that because your face isn't on their membership card.  Inconvenient, yes.  There are memberships for a reason, though!

You can still be a guest with the cardholder, that hasn't changed.

Many locations across the country have already implemented the change, but others are still testing it out. It's a step to a more efficient entry and exit system!
