As summer winds down, Illinoisans are reminiscing about their favorite back-to-school memories as kids. From the excitement of new school supplies to reuniting with friends after the summer break, the anticipation was palpable.
Oh man, my favorite back-to-school memory has to be picking my outfit for the first day of school. I'd spend hours in my bedroom going back and forth on which graphic tee I'd wear. Looking back on it, why did I ever think graphic tees were cool? Lol.

Many would say picking out a new backpack, the smell of freshly sharpened pencils, seeing friends you didn't see all summer, or the bell to ring for recess are some core memories from their youth.

- Getting new books from the library
Ohhhh.... field trips to the Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum, or Museum of Science & Industry. Those were the days I looked forward to! Riding the bus on field trips with frost on the windows in the early morning hit different.
