I've been quite fond of the Coronado Performing Arts Center taking a chance on some acts and shows here over the past few months and years.

Count this among the events I am super excited to tell you about. The Rocky Horror Picture Show is turning 50 this year, and the CPAC is helping Rockford get in on the madness.

Brad and Magenta Are Coming to Rockford, Yes, Really

Check this out: Barry Bostwick (Brad Majors) and Patricia Quinn (Magenta) are headlining a special anniversary screening at the Coronado on Thursday, October 16, at 8 p.m. It's not just the movie on a screen, either. If you've attended a showing of The Rocky Horror Picture Show at some point in the past 50 years, you know the movie is way more than that.

Expect Live Performances, Singing, and Total Chaos

The Rocky Horror Picture Show is an experience, and actual movie memorabilia will be on display, so this isn't just any random midnight showing. That said, while the movie is playing, a "live shadow cast" will be on stage, featuring actors who perform in sync with the movie playing in the background.

Shadow Cast, Lip Sync, and Full Audience Participation

I don't want to speak about what will happen at the upcoming Rocky Horror Picture Show event in Rockford. Still, typically, the on-stage cast will lip-sync dialogue and even mimic the actions of the characters. Singing along is encouraged at most Rocky Horror showings, so you can expect that at this as well. There's also a costume contest the night of the showing, so be prepared and bring plenty of glitter.

Tickets go on sale on Friday, April 25 at 10 a.m. at Ticketmaster and at the Coronado box office.

From Ticketmaster:

50th Anniversary Rocky Horror Picture Show, Join the originals, 'Brad Majors' BARRY BOSTWICK and 'Patricia Quinn' MAGENTA, for a screening of the original unedited movie with a live shadow cast and interactive audience participation! Plus a memorabilia display with artifacts and costumes from the movie, a pre-show costume contest, and so much more!
