If you were looking forward to flying from the Land of 10,000 Lakes on Delta Air Lines, you'll soon have four fewer flights from which to choose.

The Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport (MSP) is the largest airport in the state of Minnesota. 18 different airlines at MSP served 163 nonstop destinations from the North Star State in 2023, up from 156 destinations in 2023 and 145 destinations in 2022.

And a large percentage of those flights were on Delta Air Lines. Delta is based in Atlanta, Georgia, but its second-largest hub is here in the Bold North at MSP. I still kind of think of Delta as a 'Minnesota' airline, seeing as it merged with Minnesota's Eagan-based Northwest Airlines back in 2008.

Delta says it runs nearly 330 departures from MSP to 119 destinations across the globe, offering nonstop service to international destinations like Amsterdam, Paris, London, Seoul, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico City, Tokyo-Haneda and more.

Delta also serves multiple cities in Canada from MSP, including Montréal, Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, and Toronto, and is currently the only carrier at MSP to provide nonstop service to Asia, it says.

And while those figures are impressive, there are now four fewer places Delta is flying from MSP. According to the travel industry site, The Points Guy, Delta just made a change to its flight schedule, and beefs up its routes from New York City. These changes include cutting four flights from MSP.

Those four affected routes include:

  • MSP to Albuquerque
  • MSP to Buffalo
  • MSP to Fairbanks
  • MSP to Great Falls, Montana

Delta is also ending its nonstop flights from Atlanta to Fresno, Detroit to San Jose, and Salt Lake City to Toronto as part of these schedule changes as well. The Points Guy story didn't say exactly when these flights would end, but it would likely be sometime this summer.

However, it's not *all* bad news for Minnesota Delta flyers, though, as the Point Guy story also said that Delta is adding a new flight from Minnesota later this year. As of September 8th, 2025, Delta will operate a daily flight from MSP to Westchester County Airport (HPN), which is about 36 miles northeast of New York City.

So if you're looking to fly soon, you can't do better than MSP. In fact, did you know it was once again named the best airport in North America for the third year in a row? That makes the seventh time in the last eight years it won that distinction. Have a great trip!
