What is the World Beer Cup

The World Beer Cup has been around since 1996 and celebrates "the art and science of brewing."

They say that sometimes they're referred to as “The Olympics of Beer Competitions”. I mean, it is "the most prestigious beer competition in the world" after all.

There are all sorts of categories that breweries around the globe can enter beers for judging. Categories consist of your most common beers, like American Wheat Beer, and also some very unique categories like Chili Beer.

For each category, and there are A LOT of them, there's a gold, silver, and bronze award handed out.

When you win one award, it's pretty cool, but when you win multiple, you know you're doing something right. And a brewery in Wisconsin is being called one of the best breweries in the world because of the number of awards they won this year.

New Glarus won both gold and silver in the Belgian Fruit Beer category. The gold-winning beer is called Kriek, and the silver-winning beer is called Champ Du Blanc. The third award they won was in the Other Strong Beer category, where they took home bronze for their Imperial Pilsner.
