While this is one photo that I'm sure many have recreated in their own homes, there is a comment on this post that Michelle Owen made that I think has been overlooked. It is the real reason why this photo was picked for this "Sharenting" moment vs. others.  

 

How Many Parents Are Posting Information About Their Kids on Social Media?

This is a really tough statistic to find but I did find a few numbers that do show a trend:

  • According to BrightCanary, 30% of parents are not putting photos or videos of their kids on social media.
  • As far as discussing our kids on social media, BrightCanary stated that 31% have decided not to mention kids at all on their profiles.
  • HostingAdvice did a survey of U.S. parents and found out that 29% never post photos of their kids on social media. 61% have no issues about adding photos online. The few that were left indicated that they were posting and sharing less than they were before.

What are the Top Concerns About Sharing Photos Online Of Our Kids?

In the data provided by HostingAdvice, here are the following concerns that parents gave when polled about sharing their kids' lives online:

  • 81% are concerned about their kids' privacy
  • 55% are concerned about predators seeing photos of their kids
  • 48% have concerns about their kids' photos being used without permission
  • 39% are concerned about privacy invasion
  • 36% listed safety and security risks and one of their top concerns
  • 30% are worried about cyberbullying
