Amateur baseball teams from the Faribault area have earned a trip to the Minnesota Baseball Association (MBA) State Tournament which opens next weekend,

Wanamingo fell 9-2 to Red Wing in the Section 5C title game before defeating Hastings 9-6 to receive the #2 seed out of the Region.  The Jacks were regular season Twin Rivers League champions.

In other Region 5C action Cannon Falls had a 3-0 lead until the 7th inning in their elimination bracket contest with the Hastings Hawks.  Hastings won in walk-off fashion 4-3.

The other elimination bracket game took 10 innings before Austin edged Stewartville-Racine 2-1.

Hastings beat Austin 9-4 before tangling with the Jacks in the battle for second place in the Region.

In Region 6 Waterville Indians are #3 seed after getting bumped to the elimination bracket in a 4-2 loss to LeSueur Braves in the Semifinals.  Saturday the Indians beat Minnesota Lake 6-4 to clinch a State Tournament berth.  Then they defeated St. Peter 13-5 for the higher seed.  The Saints will go to state the #4 seed out of Region 6C,

Jordan Brewers defeated LeSueur Braves in title game so the Brewers will have a bye the opening weekend and the Braves are the #2 seed out of the Region.

Jordan joins Belle Plaine, Green Isle and Shakopee as sites for this year's State tournament which opens Friday, August 16, 2024 and concludes on Labor Day.

Region 3C has three teams advance to the big dance this year.  Saturday, August 10, 2024 Webster traveled to Prior Lake and ended the Mudcats season with a 6- 3 win so the Sox are the #3 seed from the Region.

Montgomery and Union Hill will be the top two from Region 3C with their title game scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Sunday, August 11, 2024 in Union Hill.

Section 1B has five of their eight teams advancing to state action.  Friday night Northfield outscored St. Patrick 15-7 in New Prague while Dundas ended Hampton's season 15-5 in 7 innings.

Saturday night Dundas nabbed the final state berth with a 9-4 win over their neighbor Northfield Knights in Dukes country.

Other teams from Section 1B competing at state include Rochester Royals, Elko Express, (Faribault graduate Jake Petricka is on the team after leading Faribault to state last season)  Miesville Mudhens, New Market Muskies.
