There was not a cloud in the sky Thursday in Wanamingo where the fans were treated to a thrilling Gopher Conference high school baseball gamer.

Kenyon-Wanamingo jumped out to a 4-0 lead but lost 9-5 in 8 innings against the league leading Randolph Rockets.

Gunnar Kennedy. senior. took the mound for the Knights, Tallon Deegan, senior countered for the Rockets.

Kenyon-Wanamingo scored 3 runs in the bottom of the third inning.  With one out lead hitteer in their batting order Reed Sommer clubbed a single.  Following a ground out Designated Hitter Owen Craig smacked a single,

Following an error an intentional walk was completed to load the bases and put a force at any base.

Another error led to 3 scores.

K-W added another run in the 4th inning with two outs.  An error again factored into the scoring giving Randolph four errors in four innings.

The Rockets evened up the game with a four run 5th inning when eight guys stepped into the batter's box.  Carter Olson started the inning with a single and stole second base.  Parker Banks cracked a 3-1 count single to score Olson.

Jackson Reuvers stroked a 2-2 count single.  An error scored a run before Frankie Novak hammered a double scoring two runs.  Novak was thrown out trying to get to third base.

Deegan had to leave the mound after back-to-back strikeouts to end the 6th inning due to his pitch count..  Owen Craig came on in relief.

He allowed one base runner in his first inning and a third of work.

The Rockets Novak led the 8th inning with a double.  Following an out #8 hitter in the order Kyle Peine stroked a 1-2 count RBI single.  There was a walk.  Banks got an RBI single, a hit batter was followed by a double clubbed by Tristan Zingler.

Reed Sommer was brought in to pitch and record the final out.  The inning closed with 5 runs scored

In the bottom of the 8th, Maddox Bracken, senior came on to pitch for Randolph.

Kennedy opened the inning with a single followed by a Noah Wallacher single and an RBI Jack Vierling single, but it was the only run the Knights would earn.

Kenyon-Wanamingo hosts Medford Friday, May 9, 2025 on KDHL.  Coverage starts around 4:15 p.m. with a 4:30 p.m. first pitch scheduled.  They are now 2-7.

Randolph is 13-4 and is home against Caledonia Friday and hosts Belle Plaine Monday.
