Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Bail has been set at $100,000 for a Rochester woman who was found suffering from a gunshot wound last fall.

According to court records, Rochester police officers responded to a report of a shooting around 3 AM on November 24, 2024 and came upon 29-year-old Emina Sabackic, who had been shot in her lower body. The officers reported that she described how she had been shot by one or more males at a location in northwest Rochester.

The criminal complaint against her also states that she told the officers that she remembered picking up a gun that had fallen to the ground and that her DNA would be found on the weapon. A semi-automatic Glock handgun was recovered at the scene and it was determined that it had been stolen in Minneapolis.

According to the criminal complaint, 3 days prior to the shooting, a search warrant was executed at Sabackic's residence in southeast Rochester and a box of 9 mm ammunition was found in the living room. A number of loose rounds were found in her bedroom.

The court document says a witness told police that Sabackic was in possession of the gun that was used in the shooting 3 days before it occurred. The witness also told investigators that Sabackic had purchased the firearm from a juvenile living in southeast Rochester, a claim that the criminal complaint says was supported by messages between Sabackic and the juvenile that were found on her cell phone.

Because she was previously convicted of felony assault charges as a juvenile, Sabakic is prohibited from possessing any firearms and/or ammunition as a person previously convicted of a crime of violence. She now faces a felony count of illegal possession of a firearm.
