Austin, MN (KROC-AM News)- The National Weather Service is confirming a super cell that brought strong winds and heavy rain to southern Minnesota Monday produced tornadoes in southeast Minnesota and northeast Iowa

Confirmation of the twister comes after storm assessment teams were dispatched across southern Minnesota to evaluate the aftermath of the severe weather

The storm teams also confirmed four other tornadoes that touched down in south-central Minnesota, including a twister in southwestern Freeborn County

National Weather Service Confirms Tornado Touchdown Near Austin

A summary of Monday evening’s severe storms indicates an EF-0 tornado touched down about seven miles east of Austin

It cut a mile long path from north to south in a farm field just north of I-90. The twister reached a peak wind speed of 75 mph and was responsible for causing tree damage.

The tornado was estimated to be 30 yards wide and was on the ground for about two minutes after touching down around 8:18 p.m., the storm summary says.  

Tornado Reported in Northern Iowa, Strong Winds Cause Damage in Rochester & Dodge County

Storm officials also confirmed an EF-1 touched down about five miles north of Waukon, IA. The twister reached a peak speed of 105 mph, was 50 yards wide and carved a four miles path.

Assessment teams say the tornado took the roof off a garage and damaged trees when it was on the ground from 10:29 p.m.- 10:38 p.m. 

The same storm complex produced damaging winds in the Rochester area. Strong gusts took down power lines in Dodge County and also knocked down trees in Dodge County and in Rochester

No injuries were reported.
