Austin, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities are looking for the driver of a car crashed into a home in Austin early Wednesday morning.

Austin Police Chief David McKichan said the car was later reported stolen. The vehicle house-collision happened around 2:30 a.m. 

McKichan said responding officers found the vehicle abandoned after responding to the crash along 9th Ave. Southwest. The car ran into and damaged a wooden set of steps, deck and downspout.

Austin, MN Police Looking for Driver of Vehicle That Crashed into Home

Police say it also struck a parked vehicle. The occupants fled the scene and immediate  attempts to make an identification were not successful, McKichan said.

About 90 minutes after the crash, police took a report from individuals who claimed a same/similar vehicle they owned had been stolen overnight. 

They have still yet to prove they own the vehicle involved in the crash McKichan stated.
