More Than 450 Crashes Were Reported Statewide

The State Patrol says there were more than 450 traffic crashes reported across Minnesota on Friday and through 7:30 AM on Saturday. 35 of the crashes resulted in injuries.

The State Patrol also responded to more than 270 reports of vehicles off the road, about a dozen spin outs, and 10 reports of jackknifed semi-trucks.

The storm system that created the slick conditions on area roadways dropped 2-3 inches of snow across southeastern Minnesota. The National Weather Service says the highest snowfall totals were in central Wisconsin, where there were numerous reports of 6-8 inches of accumulation.

Some additional snow is possible overnight. The National Weather Service says the Rochester area is expecting less than an inch of accumulation, but there could be travel impacts due to gusty north winds, which are forecast to continue through the day on Sunday.

A winter weather advisory remains in effect in Mower, Fillmore, and Houston counties until 6 PM today.
