A woman who was in a vehicle with one of the shooters was hit in the eye. Her injuries were described by Rochester police as non-life-threatening.

Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- The second person convicted in a shootout during a Halloween party in Rochester has been sentenced.

The exchange of gunfire happened on the night of October 27, 2023 at an apartment complex in the 800 block of 21st Ave. Southeast, which is near the Rochester Community and Technical College campus.

Court documents identified the gunmen as 19-year-old Aaron Caradine of Rochester and 21-year-old Daniel Ray Young Jr. of Stewartville

The bullet that struck the woman’s eye came from Caradine’s gun. Young Jr. shot back at Caradine in response but did not hit anything, according to the complaint. 

Caradine was convicted of ineligible person in possession of a firearm last year and sentenced to 60 months in prison

Young Jr. was originally charged with one count of drive-by shooting towards a person, however the charge was amended to reckless discharge of a firearm. He entered a guilty plea to the charge earlier this year. 

On Wednesday Young Jr. was sentenced to one year probation and 50 hours of community service.
