Rochester Man Accused of Fencing Stolen Cell Phone
On June 4 of this year, the Rochester Police Department responded to the report of a theft at the Cricket Wireless store. An employee told police three individuals were involved in the theft of a pair of Iphones from the store’s safe, the complaint says.
On June 9, officers returned to the store on the report of someone coming in to try and activate one of the phones that were reported stolen.
Officers learned the person in the store had bought the phone from 28-year-old Reed Joseph Bennett, according to the court filing.
The charges say Police matched a photo of Bennet with one of the suspects seen in the surveillance footage of the phone theft.

During the phone investigation, Rochester police responded to a home in Rochester on the report of a burglary on June 8. A woman reported seeing an unknown man enter her garage and walk out with a leather jacket and chaps.
Officers reviewed doorbell camera footage and identified the burglary suspect as Bennett, the criminal complaint says.
Olmsted County Adult Detention Center records indicate Bennet was booked into the Olmsted County Jail shortly before 1:00 on Saturday morning.
He’s charged with felony theft and receiving stolen property in the cell phone case and second-degree burglary in the garage burglary case.
Court records also indicate Bennet is facing charges for a DWI stemming from an August traffic stop.
Bennet’s conditional bail has been set at $20,000. He’s due back in court for the burglary and theft cases later this month.
