Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man has been ordered to spend a month in jail for attacking a woman at a Rochester hotel earlier this year.

According to Olmsted County Court records, Rochester police were dispatched to the Country Inn & Suites in the 4300 block of Highway 52 on May 15 and met with a woman who alleged she was assaulted by 31-year-old Nathan Peter Tavares. She reported that she was awakened that morning by Tavares pounding on her hotel room door and covering the peephole.

Victim Reports Brutal Assault Inside Hotel Room

The criminal complaint says the victim told police that Tavares then entered her room, charged at her, punched her in the face, threw her across the room, and kicked her body. The assault ended when a member of the hotel’s housekeeping staff entered the room.

Rochester police located and arrested Tavares in the area of the Walmart North store. The arresting officers reported seeing threatening messages that Tavares had sent to the victim. One message read, “I promise you nothing or no one is keeping you safe.”
