Missing fisherman rescued near Frontenac State Park
Frontenac, MN (KROC-AM News) - There was a happy ending to the search for a missing fisherman along the Mississippi River in southeastern Minnesota early today.
The Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office says deputies responded shortly before 1 a.m. to a report of a missing fisherman at Frontenac State Park. The report indicated the man had not been heard from in over an hour, and there was concern he may have been injured in a fall from a bluff.

After unsuccessful attempts to reach him by phone, the Sheriff’s Office says a thermal drone, a K-9 team, and watercraft were deployed in an effort to locate the missing fisherman. A news release says searchers stopped every quarter mile along the riverbank and called out for the man, who was eventually located with minor injuries.
Personnel from the Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office were able to load him into their boat and transport him to a location where he was reunited with family members.
Officials say Minnesota State Patrol air support was called in to assist but was canceled after the missing man was found. His name has not been released.
