Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities say six juveniles ranging in age from 11-14 are in custody following a recent crime spree in Minneapolis

A news release issued by the Minneapolis Police Department says the spree of armed robberies started around 11:30 Tuesday morning. 

Officers responded to the report of a robbery at gunpoint in the 5100 block of 41st Ave. South.

A second gunpoint robbery was reported shortly after the first in the 3400 block of Bloomington Ave. Police say shots were fired during the second robbery but no one was hurt. 

Officers were called to a third gunpoint robbery around 1:30 p.m. in the area of 24th St/Pleasant Ave. 

Juvenile Armed Robbery Suspects Captured After Crashes, Pursuits in Minneapolis

Officers and members of the Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office and State Patrol fanned out to search for the suspects and later received multiple reports of vehicles driving recklessly. 

Authorities found and attempted to stop one of the vehicles but it fled then led law enforcement on a pursuit on Interstate 94. The stolen vehicle crashed on the freeway and four occupants fled on foot, police say.

They were later apprehended. Authorities also found a second stolen vehicle that had crashed. The occupants also fled on foot and were captured by law enforcement, according to police. 

Three other vehicles were involved in the stolen vehicle crashes but no injuries were reported, the news release says. Police arrested three boys ages 11, 12 and 13, a 12-year-old girl and two 14-year-old girls.

The juveniles were taken to a hospital to be evaluated for injuries caused by the crashes. The 12-year-old boy has had prior contacts with police, the news release says. 

The minors will be booked into the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center once they’re medically cleared.
