Undated (KROC-AM News)- At least two people lost their lives in traffic incidents on Minnesota’s roads over the weekend.

The State Patrol responded to two fatalities. Both of the traffic deaths happened on Sunday. 

First responders were dispatched to the first fatal incident around 11:35 Sunday morning.

Crash Between Car and Pick-up Claims Driver's Life at Northern Minnesota Intersection

A pick-up traveling north on Hwy. 71 collided with a car that pulled out in front of it at the intersection of Hwy. 87, which is just over 40 miles east of Detroit Lakes.

72-year-old Thomas Ty Kolden of Wadena was driving the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The pick-up driver was identified as 64-year-old Steven Kermit Rodke. The Hawley man and his passenger, identified as 75-year-old Mickie Katherine Rodke of Hawley, were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the state crash report says. 

Steven was not buckled up and alcohol was not involved in the deadly collision, officials say. 

Twin Cities Man Perishes in Motorhome Fire on Side of Minnesota Freeway

The second motorist who died on the state’s roads perished in a fire Sunday night. 

The State Patrol responded to the shoulder of Interstate 35E in Eagan where a stalled motorhome had started on fire shortly after 10:15 p.m.

30-year-old Steven Robert Tekautz was trapped inside and unable to escape, the State Patrol says. The Eagan man was pronounced dead at the scene.
