Elderly Man Killed in Apparent Assault on Busy Twin Cities Freeway
St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News)- Authorities are investigating the death of an elderly man that stemmed from an attack on a busy Minnesota freeway.

A news release issued by the St. Paul Police Department says the State Patrol requested assistance from officers at the scene of an assault in a vehicle.
The request for assistance came in around 12:30 Thursday afternoon. Responding officers found troopers and medics at the stopped vehicle on eastbound I-94 near Prior Ave., which is between Minneapolis and St. Paul.
First responders found the elderly man and another man in the vehicle. The elderly man was not breathing. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Law enforcement brought the other occupant to St. Paul Police Headquarters for an interview, the news release says.
The preliminary investigation indicates the elderly man was assaulted during an altercation that occurred inside of the vehicle. The matter is being investigated as a homicide, authorities say.
Officials have not yet identified the victim and the man who was taken in for an interview. The Ramsey County Medical Examiner has been asked to identify the elderly man and determine his cause of death.
The news release says the deadly incident is under investigation. Thursday afternoon’s apparent fatal assault is the 16th homicide this year in St. Paul.
