Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)- There will be a large emergency responder presence at a Rochester high school on Wednesday.

Emergency personnel will be on the property to conduct an active shooter drill. It’s being facilitated by the Rochester Police Department.  

Rochester Emergency Management, Rochester Fire Department, Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office, FBI, DNR, Mayo Clinic Ambulance Service, Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner’s Office are also scheduled to participate in Wednesday’s drill.

The training will take place at Rochester Lourdes High School, which was the site of an active shooter response in September of 2022. 

It was quickly determined that reports of an active shooter were false and that the school was one of many across Minnesota to be targeted by a Swatting call.

Local, State & Federal Agencies Participating in Active Shooter Drill at Rochester Lourdes High School Wednesday

Staff from the school will also partake in the drill. It begins at 8 a.m. and is set to wrap up by 6 p.m.

A news release issued by the Rochester Police Department warns the community to expect emergency vehicles in the area during the training. 

Officials say the emergency simulation is part of an ongoing commitment to preparedness and training.
