Deadly Toxin Triggers Recall Of Canned Coffee Nationwide
COFFEE RECALL
Coffee drinkers...listen up. There has been a huge coffee product recall due to a potentially deadly toxin that could be present, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The recalled products have been distributed all over the country to various retail locations and coffee roasters, as well as through direct online sales from the company.
SNAPCHILL LLC
A company based out of Green Bay, Wisconsin called SnapChill LLC, has voluntarily recalled all of its canned coffee products after finding that its production processes could lead to a very dangerous and deadly bacterium- botulism toxin.
Snapchill creates cold coffees, and their website says they brew their coffee hot for 'optimal' flavor. They use their patented technology to instantly cool their beverages before canning them. Snapchill released a statement to Newsweek, stating the following:
'Snapchill has provided a wide range of roasters nationwide with 'Snapchill' cold coffee since 2019, without any known consumer cases of botulism."
Snapchill voluntarily recalled their products on June 17th after they learned that their processing techniques 'could' lead to the growth of a deadly botulinum toxin in low-acid canned foods.
The recall is being applied to multiple brand names in metal cans ranging from 7 to 12 ounces.
HOW TO IDENTIFY ITEMS IN THE RECALL
If you see 'produced and distributed by Snapchill LLC' written underneath the nutritional facts area of the can, or 'Snapchill Coffee' on the label, You DO NOT want to consume it or use the product in any way. If you have some of their products you should destroy them or return them to Snapchill, or the place of purchase for a refund.

WHAT IS BOTULISM?
Botulism is a rare but potentially fatal form of food poisoning that can cause the following symptoms:
- Weakness
- Dizziness,
- Double-vision
- Trouble speaking
- Trouble swallowing
WHAT ARE THE SYMPTOMS OF BOTULISM?
Symptoms can show up anywhere from 6 hours to two weeks after eating or drinking the toxin. If you experience symptoms or know that you have consumed some of the affected products, you should seek medical attention.
The FDA notified Snapchill that the process they use for manufacturing the products, although required, was NOT filed with the FDA. Since the notification, SnapChill is now working on filing with the FDA.
