The Washburn County Sherriff's Office shared a missing person notice on Monday regarding a young man from Northwestern Wisconsin who was last seen on Friday, June 14.

In the release from the sheriff's office, they describe the missing individual as a 19-year-old male from Sarona, Wisconsin named Gunnur Hess - who you can see in the photo at the top of this article.

Authorities say Gunnur told his family that he planned to launch his kayak from the County K Namekagan River access on Friday morning (June 14), which is located just northwest of Trego, between Minong and Spooner.

Hess told his family that he would contact them when he was ready to be picked up at the end of his kayaking outing.

His family has not heard from Gunnur since this communication on Friday morning.

Authorities located his truck at the County K landing, where he said he would be launching his grey Pelican kayak, which has a white bottom. His family has since come to get his truck, but Gunnur and his kayak both remain missing.

Both Washburn and Burnett County officials have traveled the river with help from local fire departments, finding no sign of Gunnur.

Officials are asking for the public's help, saying if you've seen him or have any information about his whereabouts, you should contact the Washburn County Sherriff's Office tip line at (715) 468-2720 or their non-emergency line at (715) 468-4720.

While authorities are hoping a member of the public may have information about Gunnur's location, they are asking that the public not start their own search efforts along the river.

The Washburn County Sherriff's Office shared in a comment on their original post that they are continuing to search the river with help from the National Park Service and other authorities.
