Powerball Ticket Worth A Remarkable $2 Million Purchased In Wisconsin
It's always great to see someone from the Midwest win big playing the Powerball lottery, but it's even sweeter when a big winning ticket is purchased in a small town and that's the exact scenario that played out on Wednesday in Wisconsin.
On Wednesday night, the Powerball jackpot had reached an estimated $55 million. The numbers for the August 28 drawing were 5,33, 47, 50, and 64 and the Powerball number was 20. The Power Play was 2x, which came into play with the big win.
To win $1 million, you'd need to match 5 of the 5 numbers, but not the Powerball number, meaning you're just one number away from scoring $55 million, and a ticket purchased in a small Wisconsin city did just that.
What's even better is the winner paid the extra $1 for the Power Play option. For an additional $1 per play, the Power Play feature can multiply non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, 5, or 10 times. So, since Wisconsin's big winner decided to do that, their $1 million prize became $2 million.
Where Was the $2 Million Winning Ticket Purchased?
Bristol is a village in Kenosha County, Wisconsin, which was incorporated in 2009 from portions of the Town of Bristol. The population was 5,192 at the 2020 census. According to a Facebook post from the Wisconsin State Lottery, the $2 million winning ticket was purchased at the Bristol BP, located at 20015 93rd Street.
Hopefully whoever purchased the winning tickets remembers to check the winning numbers and still has that lucky ticket in the possession!
