The Minnesota Lottery loves it when somebody in the state wins a jackpot, whether from lotto games like Powerball, Mega Millions, Lotto America, North 5, or Minnesota's own Gopher 5 lottery game.

Another popular way to win is the variety of scratch games that are readily available throughout the state and some feature very impressive payout opportunities.

Take, for example, the Diamond Riches scratch game. Now, to play this game you better be feeling lucky because the cost of one ticket is $50. However, the top prize is a whopping $50,000!

When Diamond Riches began, only 200 tickets had a $50,000 payout, and the odds of winning that amount was 1 in 6,105.08.  On April 15, a lucky person won the big payout with a ticket purchased at a Speedway in Duluth. Not bad when you can turn $50 into $50,000!

Another Big Win In Cloquet Just Over One Week Later

Another jackpot was won shortly thereafter with the North 5 lotto game. North 5 players purchase tickets and pick five numbers from 1 to 31. Drawings are held every day at 6:16 p.m. and to win the jackpot, you'd have to match all 5 numbers. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 169,911.00.

A jackpot of $53,414 was won early this week with a ticket purchased in Minneapolis, so the jackpot amount reset to $25,000 going into the drawing on Tuesday, April 23. Amazingly, it didn't take long for someone to win the jackpot again.

What's even more incredible is that two $50,000 winning Powerball tickets were purchased in March 2024, at separate Duluth Super One Food Stores. Super One certainly has had lucky lottery machines lately!

According to the Minnesota Lottery website, that jackpot is currently unclaimed so we don't yet know who won. However, we may never find out unless they decide to come forward publicly. Lottery regulations are in place to protect winners who win over $10,000. This is because big-money winners can become targets for scammers and fraud, so the Minnesota Lottery will not divulge their name unless they first agree to it.
