Minnesota Man Sent to Prison For Disturbing Infant Death Cover-Up
Minneapolis, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Minnesota man has been ordered to prison for his role in the death of an infant last year.
According to court records, 20-year-old Edwin Trudeau of Minnetonka was the boyfriend of 21-year-old Esperanza Harding, who was previously sentenced to 32 years in prison for murdering her infant son. She entered a guilty plea to second-degree intentional murder in December.

The criminal complaint in the case says Minneapolis police responded to a hospital in March of last year concerning a report of a missing infant. The court document says Harding claimed that her child had died of natural causes in the hospital a few days earlier.
The charges against her stated that the hospital had no record of the child being admitted and the Medical Examiner’s office had no record of the victim. Due to the suspicious nature of her claims, investigators interviewed Harding and the criminal complaint says she eventually admitted that she drowned the baby in a bathtub at a hotel in Bloomington on February 28, 2024.
According to the court document, Harding told investigators that she later wrapped up the infant's body, placed it in a backpack, and threw it into a trash dumpster. The court document also indicated that Harding told police that she was texting Trudeau and that he arrived at the hotel room after she had killed the baby.
When he was interviewed by police, the criminal complaint says Trudeau admitted finding the infant dead in the bathroom. He also admitted that he didn't call for help, but rather, had sex with Harding before leaving the hotel room.

Investigators also reported that Harding told them about having sex with Trudeau while the deceased infant was on the bathroom floor. She stated that Trudeau told her to place the body in the garbage and instructed her to keep her mouth shut saying, "If you go down, I go down no matter what."
Trudeau previously entered a guilty plea to a charge of aiding and abetting-accomplice after the fact. He has been sentenced to just over six years in prison.
