Yesterday, KFIL broadcasted the Three Rivers baseball game between Fillmore Central/Lanesboro and Caledonia. It was yet another cloudy, breezy, dreary day, but it stayed dry so we could play ball! We didn't have to endure the weather too long, as the outs came quickly, and in an hour and twenty minutes, Caledonia had won 1-0.

The lone run was scored in the bottom of the fourth inning. Casey Storlie led off with a single. As he took off for second base, the throw from the FC/L catcher bounced out of the glove of the shortstop covering toward right field, and Storlie advanced the third. The next batter, Tanner Gran, grounded out to second easily scoring the run.

Some fun notes: Neither team at any point in the game had more than one runner on base, and only once there were more than four batters in any half-inning (the fourth when Cal scored they sent five to the plate). They combined for just one walk and one error, helping to speed the game along. It was a very well-played game all around!

The ‘Player of the Game’ for Fillmore Central/Lanesboro was junior first baseman Sam Rustad. Sam had a couple really nice scoops and a great snag over the bag at first. For Caledonia, it predictably was junior pitcher Austin Werner. The southpaw allowed just three hits and struck out four with no walks in earning his fifth win of the season.

Next up: TRC Baseball Tuesday. Southland at #10AA St. Charles. Game is on Cool 104.3 and online at kvgo1043.com. Pregame scheduled for 4:45pm.
