Whether you're hosting an Independence Day BBQ or going to see a city's fireworks show, you've been keeping an eye on the forecast.

The Fourth of July forecast has shown the threat of rain and thunderstorms in our area for the last several days.

Here's what the weather experts are saying today:

The National Weather Service posted this update to their Facebook page: Most areas will remain dry this Independence Day except for portions of southeast Minnesota and northeast Iowa where an isolated shower or thunderstorm could develop. Chances for showers and thunderstorms will edge eastward across the entire area late tonight into Wednesday. If you have outdoor plans today into this evening be ready to move indoors if a thunderstorm approaches your area.

KTTC warns of the possibility of afternoon/evening storms on their Facebook page: We have a great looking holiday ahead of us for the most part, but there will be some rain chances that may impact the latter portion of the day. A slow-moving storm system and its associated warm front will trigger some late afternoon and early evening thunderstorms to our west and some of those will affect locations west of I-35 after 4:00 or 5:00 today. A few scattered thunderstorms will slowly migrate eastward, moving into southeast Minnesota and northeast Iowa later in the evening and for tonight. It won't be a total washout by any means, but keep an eye to the sky and the radar to monitor those evening rain chances.
