Albert Lea, MN (KROC AM News) - First District Congressman Tim Walz is scheduled to hold what he calls a public meeting in Albert Lea on Monday dealing with Mayo Clinic’s decision to reduce services in the city.

According to a press release, the event will be “a roundtable conversation with local officials, union leaders, and interested parties to hear their concerns about Mayo Clinic’s decision to close certain hospital services at its Albert Lea facility.”

Mayo has announced plans to consolidate these services on its Austin campus. Representatives from the Minnesota Nurses Association are expected to be among those at the meeting. It will be held at the Albert Lea City Council Chambers and is scheduled to begin at noon.

Walz recently publicly criticized Mayo's handling of its consolidation decision.
