Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer may miss Thursday night's football game after an emergency eye surgery Wednesday night.

Zimmer had had surgery in early November on a torn retina after scratching his eye during the loss to the Bears on Halloween. He had another surgery about a week later and

thought things would be fine then. Zimmer had scheduled the third surgery on his eye for this Friday, so as not to interfere with the team's scheduled Thursday night game, but this emergency surgery leaves the team uncertain if its head coach will be on the sidelines against the Cowboys.

If Coach Zimmer can't be on the sidelines tonight, the Vikings have two coaches on their staff with head coaching experience: Offensive Coordinator Pat Shurmur coached the Cleveland Browns and offensive line coach Tony Sporano was head coach for the Miami Dolphins in the past. Here's hoping the surgery is another successful one for Coach Zim.

UPDATE: Zimmer will not be on the sidelines for tonight game against the Cowboys. Special Teams Coach Mike Priefer will serve as head coach.
