Fans of ValleySCARE were treated to some real frights last weekend as the park closed due to a massive fight that broke out within the theme park on opening weekend.

The Shakopee Police Department then responded to the brawl at Valleyfair Saturday, September 22nd that closed the park early. The officers had to help usher everyone out safely, and thankfully there are no reported injuries, although three individuals were cited for minor offenses because of the incident.

However now it's being reported that Shakopee police will have even more officers patrolling the grounds moving forward this season.

According to WCCO, Shakopee police will now have four officers at Valleyfair from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m., which is up two officers from last weekend. One officer will patrol the premises from when the park opens at 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. when the other officers arrive.

It's sad that a few individuals caused such a dramatic change in philosophy at one of the premiere parks in the state. Having said that, I'm glad Valleyfair recognizes what happened could turn some patrons away and their families and decided to step up their efforts to make people feel safe. For that, I applaud them.
