The University of Minnesota Golden Gophers are coming off a huge blow-out win over Middle Tennessee State, and safety Jacob Huff's play on defense was a huge reason why. His interception return for a touchdown was another big reason why he was name Big-Ten Defensive Player of the Week.

Huff had four total tackles, along with one tackle for a loss in the victory, helping lead the Gopher to hold Middle Tennessee State to 3 total points, the least amount of points that the Gophers have allowed in TCF Bank Stadium.

Huff's 67-yard interception return, along with his four tackles and one pass defended was key in the Gophers victory. It was his second career interception, along with his first career collegiate touchdown.

The Gopher defense has been stout this season, allowing only 24 points so far this season, and none of them have come in the second half through three games.

Huff is Minnesota’s first Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week since November 21, 2016, when Blake Cashman was honored. The Gophers return to action when they open Big Ten play against Maryland on September 30.
