The Rushford-Peterson Trojans got a big second half from Lauren Lawtson en route to a 49-39 victory over the Lanesboro Burros Tuesday night at Rushford-Peterson High School in a Section 1A showdown.

The Burros were able to get the Trojans into foul trouble and get to the free-throw line. Payten Benson and Emily Snyder did their work at the line to give the Burros a 20-17 lead at the break. Lanesboro continued to attack the rim, getting into the double bonus with around 8 minutes left.

The Trojans were able to stay out of foul trouble in the second half, keeping the game flowing. This enabled Lawtson to get it going from the field. Lawtson finished with a game-high 24 points along with an unofficial 10 rebounds. Megan Oian added 11 for the Trojans, who out scored the burros 32-19 in the second half.

The Trojans and Burros were both able force turnovers, but Rushford-Peterson was able to hit some shots from the field in the second-half, which is were the Burros struggled. They didn't get to the free throw line in the second half, and their final comeback attempt was too late.

Benson finished with 17 for the Burros, while Snyder had eight points along with a game-high 14 rebounds.

Lawtson was phenomenal at the end of the game, cashing in at the free-throw line and getting into the paint, she also hit a three-pointer in the first half. It was a fun game, and the Trojans were able to finish it out to get the 49-39 win.
