The no. 2 seed Rushford-Peterson Trojans used a 10-1 run in the first half to take a 12-10 lead, and never looked back en route to a 43-28 victory over the no. 7 seed Fillmore Central Falcons in the Section 1A East Subsection Quarterfinal.

The Trojans scored the first two points of the game, but the Falcons scored the next nine, getting points from many different players including Drew Tienter, Logan Corson and Riley Means.

Rushford-Peterson got a charge of energy from Landon Skalet, as he hit three 3's in the first half to help the Trojans re-gain the lead. The Falcons got some momentum back when Means got a steal with three seconds left, ran the entire length of the floor and hit a layup at the buzzer to make the score 19-16 at the break.

The Trojans kicked-up the pressure defensively in the second half, forcing many Falcon turnovers, which was just too much to overcome. The Falcons wanted the game to be played at a slow pace, and they did that very well in the first half. In the second half, when they were trailing, they were forced to pick up the pace and that played right into the hands of the Trojans.

Rushford-Peterson increased the lead to 29-19 in the second half after a three by Luke Rasmussen, and they were able to ride out the Falcons the rest of the way.

Turnovers were huge for the Trojans, the forced many of them and were able to get out in transition to help build their lead. The Falcons continued to play their game, but they just didn't have enough time to get back into the game.

The Falcons got great play from Means, who led the team with 11 points, was all over the floor, making plays on both ends of the floor. The Trojans were led by Dahl with 12 points, and Carlson had a double-double with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
