A 13-4 run at the end of the first half propelled the Rushford-Peterson girls to 25-17 intermission lead over Chatfield, and eventually a 49-36 win at the final buzzer.

The intense ‘floor play’ of senior Mikayla Crawford led the way to the win. Crawford had seven steals and six assists to go along with 14 points as she received the Kingsley Mercantile Game Ball Award. Rushford-Peterson’s Player of the Game, Brianna Koop, was the leading scorer in the game with 22 points. She hit eight field goals and was 6/7 at the free throw line. Savannah Skalet added six points and dished out five assists. Nicole Blagsvedt had seven rebounds, four points and three blocked shots, in spite of early second-half foul trouble. Sophomore Kjersta Hinz had the ‘block of the game’ in the second half that set up a R-P fast break and two points.

Macy Pederson, Chatfield’s Player of the Game, tried to keep her Lady Gophers ‘in the ballgame’ with 16 points, including four three-pointers. Senior Mariah Bell had eight points and junior Britney Fretland came off the bench and scored seven points, all in the second half.

Rushford-Peterson had a 15 point (46-31) lead at one point in the second half (7:14) as they improved to 7-3 on the season. Chatfield’s record is now 1-13.
