A major-league record was set today in 1972. A total of eight shut-outs were pitched in the day's sixteen played games; five in the American League and three in the National League.
Here's one for the record books! It was ten-cent beer night in Cleveland in 1974. The Indians were forced to forfeit the game to the Rangers with a tied score of 5-5 in the ninth inning as rowdy fans took to the field.
And in 1989, Toronto Blue Jays beat Boston in twelve innings 13-11. The Jays had trailed 10-0 after six innings. This was the biggest lead that Boston had ever blown. Go Jays!
