Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  A Stewartville man has been arraigned on two felony assault charges for punching an Olmsted County detention deputy.

The assault took place in February.

The criminal complaint says the incident happened in a dayroom at the jail after 24-year-old Majed Ijong had asked for a blanket. As the deputy was giving the blanket to Ijong, he punched the officer in the mouth. The 56-year-old deputy had to receive 6 stitches.

Ijong was in jail after being charged with sexually abusing the young daughter of his girlfriend last year. That case was put on hold after he was ruled mentally incompetent to stand trial. He was ordered to undergo treatment.

During his arraignment on the new charges, a judge ordered another mental health exam. Ijong has been ordered back to court for another hearing in September.
