Windom, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Minnesota State Patrol is trying to identify the Good Samaritan who helped rescue a semi-truck driver from an inferno Monday afternoon.

State Patrol officials say a trooper was holding traffic for a funeral procession on Highway 60 in Windom when a truck crashed into the back of another semi that had stopped for the procession. The truck that rear-ended the other rig then caught fire and the blaze completely destroyed the tractor.

The trooper and a motorist sprang into action and were able to pull the truck driver out of the burning rig. Officials say he is currently recovering from significant, but non-life threatening injuries. The State Patrol is hoping to find and recognize the Good Samaritan for his heroic actions.

Anyone with information is being asked to contact the State Patrol District Headquarters in Marshall at 507-476-4020.
