With a lot of the surrounding area having been affected by last weeks storms, it's refreshing to hear so many stories about communities rallying around each other and lifting each other up. For instance here in Faribault various businesses lent out their refrigerator space and freezer space for people without power. And the local stores donated meals to those affected and those helping to clear debris. But this act of community has been especially impressive. Northfield residents are planning on rebuilding the Red Barn.

GoFundMe that was created for the owners of Red Barn Farm, located on the southeast side of Northfield, has generated more than $19,000 in the five days since a tornado completely level the building Thursday night.

The tornado that hit the area was rated an EF-1 on the Enhanced Fujita scale, which measures tornado wind speeds on a scale of zero to five, with five being the strongest. An EF-1 is capable of producing winds of 86-110 mph.

Red Barn Farm is known for making made-to-order wood-fired pizzas while welcoming patrons to live music throughout the summer in Northfield. It's also a coveted wedding venue in Minnesota, with wedding dates at there booked out two years in advance.
