Sacrifices Remembered on Memorial Day
Monday morning, Mabel held a solemn Memorial Day service at the Steam Engine Grounds. The Mabel-Canton band performed the national anthem after the colors were presented. They played other patriotic songs during the service, and even sang the Lee Greenwood song, "God Bless the USA."
The recurring theme of the day is to remember those who had made the ultimate sacrifice so that we may live free in this country. The lasting words from the morning come from the Bible and apply to the men and women who have given it all for this country: "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends." Words alone cannot express our gratitude, on Memorial Day and every day.
